In a dinner hosted by the Central Bank of Egypt, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin’s efforts at the International Monetary Fund as Executive Director for the Middle East and the Maldives were acknowledged, and he has shared the following statement:
“I was pleased to participate in the meeting hosted by His Excellency the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, Mr. Hassan Abdullah, in the presence of the Governors of Arab Central Banks and Ministers, as well as His Excellency Dr. Fahd Al-Turki, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), and Dr. Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
I had the privilege for my service to be acknowledged during this meeting, on the occasion of the end of my tenure as an Executive Director and a member of the Board of Directors at the IMF representing the Group of Arab States and the Maldives.
I have been honored to serve this constituency for two consecutive tenors from 2020 to 2024, and I acknowledge the strong cooperation with Their Excellency the Governors of the constituency at the IMF, including Ministers, Governors, their Deputies, and their support teams, in a period that witnessed economic, political, security challenges and major developments and disruptions at the global and regional levels.
I would like to thank His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, for the generous support, as well as the efforts of. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt. I would also like to thank all the Ministers and the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, their Deputies, and their teams over this period.
I look forward to collaborating with Arab Governments, Central Banks and Arab Regional Institutions through my work as the UN Special Envoy for Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”
