Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Climate Change High Level Champion for Egypt and UN Special Envoy on Financing 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, will participate next Monday in a meeting entitled “Toward the African Regional Forum & COP28: Unlocking climate finance flows to African projects through finnovation” that will take place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The meeting builds up to the 2nd Annual African Regional Forum that will take place in Kenya next September within the Five Regional Forums Initiative organized by the UN Regional Commissions, Egypt and UAE presidencies of COP27 and COP28 and the UN Climate Change High Level Champions.
The meeting aims to accelerate climate mitigation and adaptation solutions at scale through mobilizing public and private financing for concrete and investable climate projects that are based on regional priorities, the objectives of the Paris Agreement and the SDGs.
Abidjan meeting will be held on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum, leveraging the gathering of these important business leaders in Africa to propel more support for climate project pipelines, it will also bring together African and global leaders across business, government and civil society to continue to accelerate climate finnovation.
The meeting will discuss the compendium of climate-related initiatives, and the opportunities for climate finance and investments in the SDGs.
