Mahmoud Mohieldin is an economist with more than 30 years of experience in international finance and development.

Mahmoud Mohieldin, born on January 15, 1965, in Egypt, is an economist boasting over three decades of expertise in international finance and development. Currently serving as the UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for Egypt and an Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund, he has held significant roles throughout his career. Since February 2020, he has been the United Nations Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

From 2004 to 2010, Mohieldin served as the Minister of Investment of Egypt. More recently, he held the position of World Bank Group Senior Vice President for the 2030 Development Agenda, United Nations Relations, and Partnerships. His diverse roles at the World Bank encompassed Managing Director responsibilities, overseeing Human Development, Sustainable Development, Poverty Reduction, Economic Management, Finance and Private Sector Development, and the World Bank Institute.
